She was the one seeking me out. I didn’t just appear to win. I did win. She and her friend tried to lecture me about laws they didn’t understand. They came for me, not the other way around. The “laugh in the face” type behaviour is a bit immature - sure but I don’t get those in Canada who think this is somehow “their” win too. Canada is not America. It was not our race. I just don’t get it. You will never see an America call another counties election a victory even if the person they felt was the better candidate won. It just boggles my mind. Seeing Trump or Harris signs in Canada too. I just don’t get it.
The government and policy change in the US will no doubt have a downstream effect on us here in Canada. I certainly hope the effect will eventually be positive.

I did however make a typo with the original remark so let me clarify this: the US absolutely tried to kibosh China by NOT increasing their interest rates. Reasons?
The Chinese govt fought this like they thought Soros when he was buying up Hong Kong in 1998/1999. By pumping money and keeping all major companies/infrastructure in place rather than needing to sell foreign investment.
China has a huge stockpile of USD which is the most universal currency. So if the interest rate gets kiboshed, theyll just use USD directly. They also invested into a lot of foreign assets using USD to minimize impact since they know the US will use the same playbook if China is viewed as a threat. Since this dragged on for too long with an impending election at the time, the Dems had to do something get votes.
Federal interest rates-wise US is only country with major impact globally. Hence why the Dems were willing to screw over their constituent base in an attempt to kibosh China if it meant targeting a global competitor who isnt quite ready yet to go toe to toe with the US yet as taking care of the dogs is absolutely no problem.
The democrats have lost the plot I agree.
They are more concerned with virtue signalling than actually pursuing progressive policies.
But any past Republican, say Raegan would be equally appalled at what the Republicans have become.
The last Republican I actually respected was John McCain (RIP), even if I disagreed with him on policy.

We need to allow in properly qualified ones.
Example:
In the US, the Indian diaspora are considered model minorities. They are the highest income groups.
In Canada? Below average.
None of our processes are set up to identify successful people or enable them to be successful once they get here.
A qualified person is rejected because our institutions reject foreign credentials. The US does not do this.
Then our politicians allow tons of low wage workers via TFW.
Makes no sense.
In this way we are systemically disadvantaged.

I agree, except for the notion that it doesn’t matter where they come from.
If we bring highly qualified individuals that our society is lacking and they are accept our values and are willing to integrate, then it’s ok.
The added problem is when we import people from incompatible cultures (such as islamist). They may have a needed skill but be unwilling to integrate and wanting to spread the medieval cult they follow, so we must to be careful not only in terms of skills but also in terms of their compatibility with our society.
The international student loophole, and the low wage work permit program, and asylum seeker loopholes have been a disaster in terms of bringing a shitload of people that our country does not actually require.
But they are even a greater disaster because they come from incompatible cultures.

I see no issues with people following their culture or religion while also integrating.
It is inevitable they would bring some culture with them.
The issue is when they bring negative aspects of their culture and refuse to change them.
You’re conflating affective empathy with cognitive empathy. Were I to say more about it and legitimately explain why, you would say I was just “trying to win” and that I am showboating. You would dismiss the truth of what I say on those grounds, effectively silencing me for not being “nice” by your standards.
