You would have to fuck a different women every day for almost 55 years to get to 20,000 - was is magic Johnson that died of aids ?

Except that his death has been greatly exaggerated.

Wilt had to have done a lot of 2somes and 3somes or moresomes.

I actually saw Jim Brown play.
Very cool.

The players at that time were quite large specimens. I followed the Detroit Lions at that time. In 1970, Errol Mann, the kicker and Altie Taylor, a running back were about 200 lbs. The offensive line, with C Ed Flanagan, 6'3'', 245 lbs, was flanked by Bob Kowakowski, Chuck Walton and Roger Shoals, were all about 245 to 260 lbs. Even defensive linemen such as Alex Karras averaged 6'2", 250 lbs. Linebackers Paul Naumoff, 215 lbs and Mike Lucci, 230 lbs. were also large people. Even TE Charlie Sanders was 6'4" and 225 lbs.
Burt Lancaster and Jim Brown were both about 6'2", but Burt was 190 lbs. He would have been run over by Jim Brown at 230 lbs. Brown's style was to run over and through the opposition. He disliked OJ Simpson, who always ran to the outside and eschewed the interior line. Rocky Bleier had to perform that task.
On other teams, HOF offensive linemen Bob Lilly and Ron Yary were both 6'5" but 260 and 255 lbs respectively.
Good info and frames of reference.

Which goes to my point that human beings and athletes have physically evolved over the decades making 1 on 1 comparisons from different eras invalid. So one has to compare how players did relative to their contemporaries.

Jim Brown would be a smaller fullback nowadays. A lot of them currently are 250 or more and the defensive linemen are over 300 lbs. Have any current running backs average 5.2 yards per carry over an approx 10 year span and physically dominated those linemen as Brown did , year after year after year over a 10 year span.

Derrick Henry may be the most physical RB currently. 6'3", 250 lbs. He averaged over 5 YPC only twice in 7 years.

Great contributions to the discussion of Jim Brown.

Bluecolt mentioned these guys.

C Ed Flanagan, 6'3'', 245 lbs, was flanked by Bob Kowakowski, Chuck Walton and Roger Shoals

Can you please give us their Wikipedia pages so we can know more about Jim Brown?

"You both misread and misunderstood why I mentioned Bo popping in his own dislocated hip, and I said Bo wasn't a gym rat.

Not suprising, from the guy who didn't understand a "What's his name?" question in New Sports Trivia:"

He misreads and misunderstands a lot of times. It's a constant with him.

I mentioned Gilchrist and Motley because they were also big running backs (like Brown) and played in the same era although Gilchrist played in the CFL.

What is constant is how you invariably turtle when challenged and you are only brave when somebody criticizes me and then you have the courage to pile on. You always need somebody to fight your battles for you.

This is why pics like this are not silly.

They are 100% accurate of your behaviour. As they say, the truth hurts. And every time you object to a pic like this, you prove my point.

Darts, has anybody else called them silly or just you? If there are please provide the quote(s) where they say so.

And how did their careers compare to Jim Brown's.

Not going to keep trying to talk sense to someone who constantly misreads and misunderstands.

Just saying there were other big running backs besides Brown. Not saying they were better or even the same.

So at least you are admitting that your post served no purpose as per the topic of this thread.

Why does everything have to be explained to you in excruciating detail? Nobody else is causing a fuss.

I was expanding on Bluecolt's post 38 where he mentioned large players of that era so I added Gilchrist and Motley to the group.

From wikipedia:

In Chamberlain's second book A View from Above, he claimed to have had sex with 20,000 women. According to his contemporary Rod Roddewig, Chamberlain documented his love life using a Day-Timer. Every time Chamberlain had sex with a different woman, he put a check in his day-timer. Over a ten-day period, there were 23 checks in the book; a rate of 2.3 women per day. Chamberlain halved that number to be conservative and to correct for degrees of variation. He then multiplied that number by the number of days he had been alive and subtracted 15 years, giving him the 20,000 number.

Magic Johnson is still alive.

The running back position has been severely downgraded in today's NFL. Saquon Barkley of the NY Giants, who led his team in rushing and receiving, could not secure a long term contract. So he has to play under the franchised tag of $10.1 million. The team can slap him with the franchised tag again next season. By comparison, Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill will earn $30 million this year.

Running backs are being burned in college with a heavy punishing load. By the time they arrive in the NFL, they have just about only 5 years of good productivity left. The Cowboys Ezekiel Elliot is done. No team will sign him. Dalvin Cook was cut by the Vikings and is yet to sign with another team

Ezekiel Elliott has played seven seasons and has career earnings of about $71M and a personal net worth of about $48M. I ain't crying any tears for Zeke. If he retired today, he'd still be pretty healthy and could live a great life doing other things of interest based on the money he made.

We can, most certainly, compare athletes from different eras. Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco holds the world record for running a mile, (3:43.13). It is an undeniable fact that he was a better athlete than every runner before 1954, who all took longer than 4 minutes. Every gymnast who currently competes in the Olympic Games is a better athlete than those who competed in the 1968 Games.

One reason why team sports players are better today is that being an athlete is a full time job. They are often in game shape year round, which was not always the case in the past.

A pitcher who could throw a ball 90 miles per hour was once considered a flamethrower. Today that's below average.

The quality of one's opposition also matters greatly. The US Women's soccer team dominates against other women, but they had thir asses handed to them by a team of 15 year old boys.

The Earth's population doubled between 1974 and 2022. If we assumed that the percentage of the population who have the genetic potential to become elite athletes remains constant, that means there are twice as many of them now.

Bo Jackson averaged 5.4 yards per carry, but not for nine years, the length of Jim Brown's NFL career.

Guys, aren't you concerned the usual suspect will barge in here and yell THREAD HIJACKING IN PROGRESS? There's no mention of Mr. Brown in your posts.

P.S. Love your posts. Not mentioning Mr. Brown specifically doesn't bother me one bit.
