I know most of you were only 10 years old when you last had a McDonald's hamburger, but you do remember that they were only 99 cents, and even in 2018 I only paid 99 cents for them. Then the pandemic doubled the price, and I was disgruntled about that, but I understood the situation and accepted it. Well, now pre-pandemic prices should be back, right? Well, I went to McDonald's today and ordered 4 hamburgers, and they charged me over $12! Yes, instead of dropping back, the price got raised again, to a whole whopping $3 per hamburger! Someone please tell me I'm just dreaming here!
No. During the pandemic a lot of people were off work not producing and governments fairly enough through butt tons of cash at people to compensate for staying home [even the ones who didn't

That money seems to have finally mostly sloshed through the system [at least according to The Economist, my fav adult magazine] but that money is still there. So prices will stick at the new high.

I'm a cheap bastard so I always get a small meal combo at McD's. About $6.00 and it's enough for me since I lost some weight.

I do not know about Canada, but in the USA McDonalds' has brought back a $5 combo since June. The franchisers are complaining that they do not make money at that price but head office is continuing the promo till Christmas. My meal habits have changed since the pandemic, I no longer have fries 4-5 times a week like I did before. The other day I was at Wendy's and I just asked for the single burger without fries and soft drink, I had water in the car.
If you break your old habits, you can have better healthier habits.
