ago are on the mind of Poles today while they are lending support
to Ukraine's fight against Russian invasion.

That being said, it is not unthinkable some Poles do harbour caution
towards today's Ukraine given their historically close tie to Russia.

Although atrocious (understatement) it is of many generations ago, under different circumstances.

Once this Russian invasion is resolved, there needs to be lots of reflections, and reconciliation.

You can probably start reading pages that link to the above. The Poles and Ukrainians fought for who should own Lviv after the Germans were expelled. There was a brief period when neither the Germans nor the Soviets owned Western Ukraine / South-eastern Poland. The Poles and Ukrainians had previously fought after WW 1 about the same shit.

It involved a lot of genocidal killing on all 4 sides. Little known stuff.

When I was a lot younger in the 80's, I dated a girl whose folks were Ukrainians who had fled to Canada after 1945 and I picked up a lot of the vibe.

At this point, it's stuff that happened 80 years ago and concerns shit that was done by folks' great-grandparents in a different time and place and the issue probably shouldn't be raised again.

They had women christmas carollers sing to people so they could not hear the screams of their neighbours being killed. Wow. Just learned about it? Yes, some Ukrainians combined their hatred of the Soviets with hatred of other ethnicities and joined the Nazis. And yes, some Ukrainians still celebrate these pro-Nazi groups for their actions against the Soviets and ignore (or embrace) their racism.

But people trying to use this to justify Vlad's invasion are idiotic because the Russians/Soviets also have a long history persecuting ethnic minorities including Jews, not to mention their slaughter of Poles when they joined in Hitler's invasion of Poland.

But good on you for expanding your knowledge. Are you also willing to look at the Soviet/Russian slaughters of Poles and Jews in, before, and after WWII? Ethnic hatred is nothing new.
