I've had great nights in Windsor and Niagara and some bad beats in Rama. Lot of donkey river rats in Rama who don't know enough to fold when they're beat after the flop and turn, then catch their 3rd deuce on the river... I'm up over $20K for 2010 at the casinos, close to $40K in the two cash games I play at in the GTA ($10/$20 & $50/$100) and down about $5K online at Full Tilt

online can be dangerous.

i KNOW GUYS WHO WORK IN TANDEM. THEY GET ON THE SAME TABLE....AND SIT ON THE TELEPHONE WITH EACH OTHER. THEY DISCUSS THEIR HANDS, THE STRATEGIES...WHO WILL FOLD ETC AND SHARE IN THE OVERALL WINNINGS.

QUITE A GOOD STRATEGY IF YOU HAVE A PARTNER....CAUSE RAISES BY ONE CAN AFFECT OTHERS AT THE TABLES, WHILE THE PARTNER WITH THE KK PAIR THEN REAPS SOME REWARDS.....

There is an old poker saying; "If you can't spot the sucker at the table then YOU are the sucker." Its tough to live by these words in the online world of poker.

I know a group of guys who do it through MSN messenger. Very sneaky but also good at the same time!

I have no problem with online but that is likely because I just play small stakes. If some guys want to spend that effort to take me for $20, oh well.

I'm up about $800 in two trips for 2010. Would have been almost double that but I lost $500 in a single crazy hand, putting me even for my second trip. Considering this was at a $1-$2 table, that's a lot to lose. I had been there about 3 hours and increased my stack from $100 to $700 (not too shabby) when this loose cannon sits down with $100. He makes $300 then loses it all against the big chip stack at the table in one hand. He buys back in for $100 more, and being so aggressive makes almost $400 on top of that before the hand in question occured.

I was sitting just to the left of the BB with K/J spades and popped it to $12. Two callers. Then, loose cannon pops it to $30. One caller. I call. The two original callers call. 5 way action with $153 already in the pot. Flop comes J/7/2 with two spades. I'm first to act and bet $75. Two folds, then loose cannon raises to $200. Other guy folds. I've got one hell of a read on this guy (just like everyone else at the table), so I reraise all in. He takes 5 minutes, then calls. He's got J/9 offsuit.

I think i'm in the clear until a 9 falls on the turn, making that the biggest pot I've ever lost. I was so sick with that hand that I haven't been back to the casino since February.

I played a fair amount of Blackjack. I was thinking about playing Texas Hold'em but sitting at the table for 3 hours and keeping your focus for that long of time sounds difficult. How good are the players at the poker table???

Is it just me or is online play impossible to win at? Do you believe it's rigged?

I don't think online is rigged. however, I do see so many unrealistic hands and bad beats online.
everyone seems to have a hand online (usually 2 or more people) - it creates larger pots - and therefore a larger rake

There ia a simple rule to follow. If you lookk around the table, and don't see the "fish"........then you are the fish........

I think the bigger issue is getting caught at a table with a team playing. Then it can get rough.

Lol, that's an interesting take. You don't think it's rigged, but you do think everyone seems to have a hand online which you admit leads to bigger pots and hence larger rakes that the site benefits from....

It sounds like you've had quite the rollercoaster of experiences at different casinos. Windsor and Niagara can be really enjoyable, while Rama seems to have its ups and downs. The poker scene in the GTA sounds intense with those stakes. Have you ever tried online slots? There are some interesting sites out there. Check out https://pafisamarinda.org for the latest alternatives. It might add some variety to your gaming routine.
I started reading this when it popped up on "new posts"
Then I realized that you just bumped a thread that was started 14 years ago, and last contributed to 11 years ago.
A few things have changed re: casino poker in the last decade or more.

There's NLHE (no limit hold em) and limit Omaha and PLO (pot limit Omaha) at Woodbine casino and NLHE at Pickering casino, although the rake is atrocious at 10% up to $20 max and $1 for the bad beat jackpot on pots more than $20 on NLHE games. It's not as bad on the bigger games but at $1/$3, it can really take a lot of chips off the table. I think those rooms are on the Poker Atlas app, so you can check which games are being offered at any given time.

CNE opens tomorrow (Wednesday, July 24) for the limit hold em players. I believe they also offer "spread" limit, which is a hybrid of limit and no limit, with a maximum bet per street.

Yea, casino's don't make that much off tourneys compared to cash games, plus a game can run pretty long, not worth it for them.
