And what about the police car parked outside her apartment arresting customers? Do you think that refrains her from working indoors?
In the event that she puts a sign on her detached home that says, The Happy Hooker, your scenario is highly unlikely.
But you have perhaps underscored what the new law implies for sex workers - to operate discreetly, including advertising.
My point is that there's no offence for her working indoors at one location like their used to be under the old law.
I know, but that doesn't help the escort when the police are parked outside. There is a video of this situation in Sweden.
Lies, Damned Lies, and Abolitionists

I want to hug Alexandra Kimball. Maybe kiss her if she’d let me.
She wrote the article Dirty Tricks in the December issue of The Walrus. It’s not quite a full-blown exposé of the lies spread by the anti-sex work industry, but it’s demonstrated them to be more deceitful than anything else I’ve read yet in a mainstream Canadian publication.
It packs a lot into its short space, including how NGOs view all sex work as human trafficking, and how inflated statistics (some of which that have been disregarded as false by the groups who organized them) are perpetuated still today and were used to inform the writing of Bill C-36.
The article is framed around the story of Naomi Sayers, whom you’ve read about here before. She is one of the coauthors of the template letter you should send to your Premier if you haven’t already. Naomi willingly chose to be a sex worker. It was her choice and her own free will, and she’s participated in rallies against criminalization of her chosen career, she is a hero within many of us within the community and someone I admire greatly. However, she’s committed the cardinal sin amongst those who would “rescue” her from this: she refuses to call herself a sex trafficking victim.
I’ve seen the anger and vilification thrown at sex workers who refuse to be called victims. I try to avoid it – I have a still-legal business to run and I don’t need the distractions – but stepping onto Twitter you can’t ignore it. The most disgusting, dehumanizing and sexist language I’ve been subject to has not come from clients; it’s come from self-described “rescuers”, some who falsely describe themselves as feminists, who would rather see me, my friends and colleagues poor, broken, homeless or even dead than an independent, sexually-liberated woman.
Why do “rescuers” want to see us poor, broken, homeless or even dead? Because then we become their propaganda tool. The deader the better to them. As Kimball’s article says, when Naomi’s friend Alex died by suicide, her death was exploited by an anti-sex work organization as a woeful tale of humantrafficking. Naomi was more polite than I would have been: “Please do not use my best friend’s suicide/death as a pawn to your political game,” she replied.
Naomi was attacked for that. All of them strangers to her, all of them strangers to Alex, but all of them certain Alex was a victim of human trafficking. None of them had proof, but all of them had a fact-free conviction and used that to attack Naomi.
The anti-sex work lobby is not one based in facts and reality, and Kimball’s article does a good job in a short space of taking it down.

Canada's new prostitution law won’t change policing priorities in Vancouver
FOR THE FIRST time in Canada’s history, buying sex will be a criminal offence starting December 6 this year.
That’s when the country’s new prostitution law comes into effect, following the passage of legislation introduced by the federal Conservative government.
But as far as the Vancouver Police Department is concerned, there’s not a whole lot that’s going to change in the way it deals with the sale and purchase of sexual services in the city.
“Our officers will still be guided by the principles and policies and procedures outlined in the sex-work-enforcement guidelines that we have,” Const. Brian Montague told the Straight in a phone interview.
The VPD spokesperson was referring to a set of directives adopted by the police force in January 2013 that states: “Sex work involving consenting adults is not an enforcement priority for the VPD.”
When asked if Vancouver police will be mounting sting operations against buyers of sex, Montague responded: “If you read our policy…I think the best way to put it is enforcement is a last resort for us.”
Montague also noted that the VPD has the same approach toward marijuana laws: the VPD does not place a high investigative and enforcement priority on possession of cannabis as a singular offence.
“We want to make sure that other options are explored, and I think the best way to describe it is the fact that our officers have a great deal of discretion when dealing with a variety of circumstances, whether it’s prostitution laws or drug laws,” Montague said. “Enforcement isn’t necessarily always the most appropriate option.”
However, Montague pointed out that as provided for in the VPD’s guidelines, high priority for intervention are cases involving violence against sex workers, minors, human trafficking, and connection with criminal gangs. Montague said: “At any time that we’re looking at crimes where children are involved, where people are being exploited, obviously…enforcement might be appropriate in those circumstances.”

This article is pretty much in line with every law enforcement official my lawyers and i have spoken to here in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Their priority is how the girls are treated. Not guys blue balls lol

This is actually great to hear. I was thinking today how much I would miss the hobby if toronto cops started enforcing it. It would be great to hear some sort of confirmation on this from them to relieve the pressure (if not Ill go through the current plan of taking a break/seeing how it plays out)
This government is so fucked up.

2015 Federal election is around the corner Andy, just ensure all the ladies , drivers, bookers vote against the Reform party. Hey, how about a 20% discount for anyone who votes anyone but Reform!![]()
Not sure. Lap dance becomes illegal under C36 too though I hear municipalities have their own jurisdiction when it comes to SCs. Mind you when I asked a strip bar owner about this he said that his club is empty because people prefer to go to what he called brothels. We both think in 2015 there will be better days ahead for strip bars as they remain the only place people can watch and socialize with nude females, legally. I think that many escorts and masseuses may switch to SCs as nude dancers too as their business dry up, especially the new ones.
I can't understand why LE has to target anything for my scenario to happen with strip bars. Which part of what I anticipated will not happen?
1 - Many hobbyists would quit (some would quit in short term and will return to hobby if no place is raided next 6 months and no arrests made but some would quit just because they don't wish to participate in an illegal act EVEN if the risk is minimum. Either they stay home and watch TV weekends or like I did they go to strip bars and have fun with nude girls they can choose in flesh at strip bars so more crowd.
2 - Even without any raids and arrest some new escorts who used to start with backpages will not make any money so the only money making alternative in sex industry for them is strip bars and would switch to these places so more dancers and more patrons and more parties. Strip bars have been really bad past few years. Time for change.

refer to the poll on terb. I think 40% or so voted they would quit. I remember strip bars before the time of internet and backpages. It was real fun. Full of people and party even daytime. Same people who you say would shy away from SCs were there before advertising and seeing escorts became so easy and accessible. I thought I was optimistic lol as I predicted much better days for strip bars!!!
Most of the fear mongering and crap on this board are from guys that dont even hobby. I dont understand why they are even here.
Remember being in a bawdy house is no longer illegal (another good thing about C36).
Hobbying consists of seeing escorts, Masseuses as well as nude dancers at strip bars or outside when it was legal. Only an idiot would exclude strip bars and nude dancers as not a hobby so I am not surprise by the post by D-Fens.
Yes I can see why some of the things so called trolls are saying may not be to your liking as per your vested interest in escort industry and the more realistic predictions about the affects of C36 by very few individuals. The fact remains what we say does not matter. What will happen (and NOBODY KNOWS) is what that matters. On the latter part lol you are preaching to a long time preacher.
Hobbying also consists of basket weaving and building little wooden bird houses. Its what some of the trolls on here should take up,
Andy
I recall that strip club owners invited to the parliament supported this bill because massage parlours steal their clients who prefer happy ending or even better full service rather than just lap dance
