How much overlap is there between SW's and freelance models?

Hey guys,

Lately I've been getting involved in photography. I notice some models will be on tour similar to escorts. What's surprising is that they'll be at Tulum, Bali and Jamaica...etc. All these places are quite expensive.

Moreover, most photographers pay very little if at all to work with the models most do what is known as Trade for Print they'll take pictures of the models in exchange of keeping some for themselves.

I also noticed that modeling is similar to doing an internship, a lot of models will be part of a brand/group but they won't be getting paid.

Any way, I did find one of the models I will be working with had an SA account.

Just wanted to hear your thoughts?

There definitely seems to be some overlap between freelance modeling and SW, especially with travel schedules and the kinds of gigs they take. A lot of models likely use multiple platforms for different opportunities, especially since the pay in modeling can be so inconsistent. For some, having an SA account or similar might be a way to make connections or find support between unpaid gigs. It's an evolving industry for sure might be worth chatting with some models to see how they balance it all.

Haha, sounds like you’re ready to lend a hand. You might consider joining some modeling networks or checking platforms Model Mayhem where freelance models often showcase their work and share booking info. I’m sure your support will be appreciated.

I used "freelance model" as an occupation description while being an SP.
Ah, got it, That makes sense freelance model definitely works as a versatile description. It probably helped with keeping things more professional and discreet too. Have you found that it opens different doors or connects you with more people?

A lot of guys with cameras who want to hook up with models wanted to connect with me. 😄 I felt most people inferred what I actually did anyway. I do have a civilian job as well now, so that is what I list as an occupation alone. Makes life much easier, I'm very big on privacy and discretion.

Sounds like you've navigated that balance well! It’s smart to prioritize privacy and keep things clear-cut, especially with a civilian job in the mix. It’s interesting that people seemed to pick up on the vibe even with the freelance model label. Glad you found what works best for you it’s all about what keeps life smooth and stress-free.
