It seems my pal Rusty is back in the saddle. Unhinged has grossed $8.2 million in a limited box office. Translated to an open market, that's $46 million.

Rusty was always good at playing a sick fuck.

To conclude the above story, why did Howard Stern hire Brent Hatley in the first place? He saved Bubba The Love Hack's life.

Bubba's ratings must have been falling - so he picked a fight with Dee Snider. To give you an idea how tough Dee Snider is, a mugger tried to rob him with a sucker punch from behind. The aggravated assault charge against Snider was dismissed in court.

Howard decided to be peace maker, inviting both Bubba and Snider to the studio. Bubba took Brent with him and behaved, as William Shakespeare would say, like a princock. Brent got between Bubba and Snider, stopping the Love Hack from becoming road kill. Howard was impressed and hired Brent after he left Bubba's show.

You don't mess with Dee Snider, ever.

In somma, the poll was accurate. I'm not getting any takers for Tenet, not even Steve Shutt. Not waiting for the weekend, going tomorrow to Colossus IMAX...it's TOFTT time.

Elizabeth Debicki has top billing, I don't know who she is? Sweet looking girl.

IV, I thought you had seen Steve McQueen’s Widows? If you did, you couldn’t forget Elizabeth Debicki, she practically stole the movie from Viola Davis, Liam Neeson et al. She also looked fine in her nude scenes.

So I tookOFTT and went to they movies to catch Noan's latest. I'm glad I did, as Mr. Spock would say, "it was most rewarding.

Tenet is not a sequel to Inception. Nolan was partially true to his word, the film does pay homage to 1940's Alfred Hitchcock in spirit. He leaves that behind 2/3 of the way through the film. The obvious references are, a good deal of the film takes place in Hitchcock favorite vacation spot and Elizabeth Debicki is playing Ingrid Bergman. Nolan needed a tall actress with chops, Debicki is 6' 2", Bergman was 5' 10".

More on the film later, time for some shut eye.

So true, both Night of the Hunter and Touch of Evil were box-office flops. Both films are now considered masterpieces. No one plays a better Mexican than Charlton Heston!

Written, directed and starring Orson Welles. This opening sequence heavily influenced Sergio Leone.

That opening sequence is so good.

That opening sequence is so good.

And so is the opening ten minutes of Tenet. The sad part is it's the first Nolan film I had to watch on my own.

It's not a sequel to Inception and John David Washington is stronger as the lead than Leo Di Caprio was. Ellen Page was the star of Inception. The film is almost as tight as Dunkirk with Hitchcock Easter eggs throughout the first 2/3, after that it's a flat out action film. "Sissy vampire" appears to be going along for the ride. This is probably the best work I've seen from Kenneth Branagh, never has he been so menacing. Elizabeth Debicki delivers the plot twist as the Ingrid Bergman character and she knows how to seduce the audience. Like The Prestige, the premise in convoluted but Nolan kept me engaged enough not to get lost. Repeat viewings are necessary but I'll wait, the film can be exhausting. Finally Nolan throws in a joke, he whom the joke is for will probably say "cheeky bugger", Aaron Taylor - Johnson pulls it off with style - very good actor. Nolan and IMAX are like a burger with HP Sauce, it was a good risk to take.

I have to give a special mention to Irish/Welsh actor Andrew Howard, he's building quite a career as a formidable heavy. First Banshee, then Parry Mason (Detective Ennis) and now as The Protagonist's (Washington) nemesis. Oops I shouldn't leave out that he was also Red Scare in Watchmen.

Sounds like I should check it out.
I find Nolan hit or miss, but when he hits it tends to be a very solid hit.

Apart from Interstellar, I can't think of another Nolan film that's a miss. But he gets a pass on that one since he and brother Jonathan were valiant in the attempt. TDKR had logistical problems with a rushed ending. And The Prestige was very dense with too many characters, but none of those films can be considered misses.

I was hoping for a film-noir but that would have been impossible with the big budgets Nolan gets from WB/ATT. Now that I've had time to digest the film, I'm loving what Aaron Taylor-Johnson did in the finale. It added a light touch to a very intense sequence. His spoof of another actor was every bit as good as Robert Downey Jr spoofing Russell Crowe in Tropic Thunder. John David Washington has established himself as a leading man.

I was going to leave the last word to the entertaining Critical Drinker, too many spoilers.

Guys, support your local live performance theatre. All or almost all the actors are students and/or young adults. Also, be generous with your donations as many of the actors do not have a steady income.

Looks like this thread has run its course. Time for another pic of live performance in the park.

So you're TOFTT as well?

BlacKKKlansman was one of Spike Lee strongest films but it depressed the hell out of me. Especially Harry Belafonte's description of the lynching of Jesse Washington. Adam Driver was also good in the film, he was sensational in Martin Scorsese's Silence. An Oscar worthy performance. But then Hollywood doesn't always reward those who deserve it most, Samara's uncle Hugo Weaving deserved the Best Actor Oscar for V for Vendetta.

Even though you never see his face.

Welp, I recently TOFTT to see this movie. I really liked the sequences and the acting in this film, even though the story was a bit confusing on first viewing. If I watch this movie again, I would recommend using subtitles.

Tenet scoring pretty poorly with critics who mainly seem to be roasting its "plot" and pseudo science
Havnt downloaded it yet so no comment so far

My fav quote:

All this delicious incident has the makings of a gung-ho entertainment – Ian Fleming as mounted by Nasa. Unfortunately that’s not what we get. Even if we were brave enough to try, we would not be capable of spoiling a plot so wilfully obtuse it demands repeat viewings to disentangle.

The confusion does not just render the plot unintelligible. It eats up brave performances by excellent actors.

I disagree. The critic comes across as smug, drawing unnecessary attention to him/herself. I checked out Rotten Tomatoes, I see a disconnect between critics and audiences. How can a film made to conform to Chinese Communist Party standards (Mulan) be rated higher than Tenet? Someone's been taking payola.

I didn't have a problem with the plot, I actually found it easier to follow than Inception. The plot twist was ingenious, it proved The Protagonists instincts to be accurate. I had a problem with ending, it was overblown. Without Aaron Taylor-Johnson's comic timing it would have been exhausting.

The biggest disconnect I've seen was for Venom, critics gave it a 29% Rotten, audiences gave it an 81% Fresh. The film went on to earn a $580 million profit for Sony.

Warning : mild spoiler.

I agree with the comment on brave performances. Now I know why Elizabeth Debicki has top billing on IMDB. Her character's, Kat, relationship with arms dealer Andrei Sator (Kenneth Branaugh) is the glue that holds the film together. You can tell that Branaugh was enjoying himself, chewing up the scenery in a good way.

You mentioned that Venom film a few times and that is one I actually agree with
Yes it was dumb, the plot was silly, and in general I am not a fan of Marvel's hype

But I actually enjoyed Venom
Much moreso than say any of the Avengers films

I watched Spiderman: Far From Home, it was mediocre. It would have been a much better films if Jake Gyllenhaal and Zendaya had to freedom to improvise their characters.

I've actually watched Venom three times, I've enjoyed it in all three. Sony was so sure that the film would bomb that they refused to pay Eminem for the theme song, it was left out of the film. The film went on to gross $860 million in global theaters.

Tom Hardy liked the song, since he has creative control of the sequel, he'll probably feature it in some way.

Tenet was my second most anticipated film of 2020, my No.1 film is David Fincher's Mank. Netflix will release it on American Thanksgiving.

Netflix is playing this one close to the vest, we still have no idea what Tom Burke looks like as Orson Welles.

Bots are destroying the internet, Rotten Tomatoes can no longer be trusted.

The PRC is deploying hundreds of bots to increase Mulan's critical rating. To bad the PRC can't send out their Mao Princeling thugs to smash the heads of those who hate the film...like they are doing in Hong Kong.
