Historian awarded compensation after being found to be the victim of anti-white racism

Tasmania’s Anti-Discrimination Tribunal has awarded historian Reg Watson $2,500 after he received derogatory emails about his race.

South Africa is a good example of it.

Happens all the time. Its called affirmative action or the equivalent laws which we have in this country.

People just don't want to admit the harsh truth.

If you lived through the Quebec separation movement then you would have been discriminated on just for speaking English whether you were black, white, purple or green. Toronto is the beneficiary of all the head offices that were chased out of Montreal by the separatist.

A few years ago I was up North where I go camping every year . I lit a nice campfire and a family of French speaking people came over and sat down . No problem because the campfire pit is for everyone . They all spoke French to each other . I can't speak or read French so I said nothing . Then a guy who lives at the camp came over . He was talking to them in English and they back to him in English . I thought you bunch of racists bastards .

Next day I was walking back to my trailer and the mother asked me how was the fishing . I just kept on walking .

Let's ask the truck driver who was going through south-central Los Angeles when the not guilty verdict was announced in the Rodney King beating trials.

The erect a statue of Rene Levesque fund.

There were LOTS of far more militant groups than Rene Levesque and the Parti Quebecois
RL actually fought them to insist that anglophones rights in Quebec be protected

You want to talk crazy check out Pie rre Bourgault (who founded the Rassemblement pour l'indépendance nationale - RIN) or hardliners such as Georges Schoeters, Raymond Villeneuve, Gabriel Hudon and Andrée Ferretti
RIN is the DIRECT precursor to the FLQ

Anyone have any idea why the Terb censor bot is freaking out over P i e r r e ???

If you're talking about the kind of racism where the economically dominant group oppresses other people based on the colour of their skin - the answer is NO, white people cannot be the victim of it in Canada.

There are many kinds of racism, but the above the worse kind.

I had to read that a few times before realising you must be short of a few marbles.

He could have been a different race than the individuals speaking French and because they didn’t know him they spoke the language they were more comfortable with. I encounter a similar situation every day at work but I know the individuals speaking a language I don’t understand can speak perfect English. I have mentioned it to them at times and the company also mentioned that such behaviour is not acceptable but they continue doing it. This is just IGNORANT behaviour not racist behavior, imho.

What the hell are you talking about . They completely ignored me at the campfire . So I did the same to the wife the next day . I did all the work in setting up the campfire . Not them . I'm the one that is short of marbles . Look in the mirror sunshine and count how many you have . That's if you have any to count .

Yes.I witnessed it happening to my wife about 14 years ago. She was literally told she wasn't a "preferred customer" after being passed over for 4 others customers of the same ethnic descent. It was summer and she was wearing shorts and a T-shirt(Nothing scandalous). It was a bridge too far for these folks. Racism is not about an ethnic background.....it is a state of dominance and superiority in someone's mind.

That exact same thing happened to me in Harlem. I asked the lady behind the counter a question and she completely ignored me. Then told me I wasn't welcome. I had a couple black folks come up to me after and say what I experienced was total bullshit that they wouldn't ever patronize that store ever again. Made me feel a bit better, I know the vast majority of people aren't racist.

It's happening in China. Where Chinese people are denying service to foreign white people. They say white people brought the virus into China.

You don't have to go to China to experience racism against "gweilos" (white people), just go to any of the cash only eateries in Markham. Haven't yet been to any of the dim sum places there without my buddy Bun Jiao Jai.

Black people are way too excitable in a bizarrely funny way esp in the US

For a good laugh check out a lower class store next time you are in the US (Walmart is a great one)

Very optimistic but I have a feeling we'll find other things to replace it. It's not like bullying doesn't exist in schools where everyone is from the same race, religion, social status ....

Is it optimistic? Is the inability of us to comprehend such a future resultant of current social stigmas being so strong that we can't imagine anything else? That would be a result of the reality we exist in. Our children will live in a different reality, especially if we guide them properly and responsibly to facilitate the dissolvement of these stigmas. If we can do that then the future is wide open, I believe the biggest hurdle for change? is limiting our hopes for the future based on current beliefs, instead of hoping for the future we build a future filled with hope that gives us the space for optimism and growth, without that you may well be right.

Yes, white men can and are discriminated on a regular basis now. Which is kind of fucked up when you think about the fact they are the majority.

White men today are paying for an offense that they never made.

But in the end racism is used by the rich and powerful to oppress everyone, while they maintain their power.

Something I learned from a KKK president....

Had a conversation recently and I am curious what others think.

Edit below.

I'm not naive however the person I was speaking with was adamant that white privilege excluded whites from being the victims of racism, this was just one of many of their perspectives.

LJ

LOL - of course.

why would you even ask such a thing?

Some people like to believe that there can't be racism against those in "power".

BUT the perception that whites are in "power" in every enclave of the world is foolhardy.
