    Never pleasant. Had to get a few of those signed in my time as a landlord. Unfortunately, that's part of the process when the landlord sells the property.

    Its unfortunate that a lot of shady landlords these days are using that excuse to get rid of a tenant and replace them with tenant paying the current higher rate. If you are willing to do the homework you can easily find out if true or not. If they are lying, they could face a fine of up to $20K I believe. Google the address and see if they have any listings up to re-rent the property.
